The Adirondack Art Association is excited to host watercolorist Ann Pember as their spotlight artist for the July Art Exhibit. Pember is renowned for her exquisite watercolor paintings of flowers, rushing rivers, and wooded landscapes. The exhibition, which will feature a room dedicated to Pember’s artworks along with a group show of AAA artist members, will be held from July 1 to August 2, 2016. An opening reception which is free and open to the public will be held for the exhibit on Friday, July 1 from 5:00-7:00 pm at the AAA in Essex, New York.
Pember earned a BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston in 1968. She has been practicing in the art of watercolor since 1960 and her paintings have been included in more than 245 national juried exhibitions and have won more than 60 awards. Her work has been featured in more than 40 books and publications, including 6 of the popular Splash books by North Light Books. Pember also has five self-published books available through her website www.annpember.com.
She has earned signature membership in 22 art societies, including: American Watercolor Society, American Artists Professional League, (Fellow), Allied Artists of America, Audubon Artists, Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, Knickerbocker Artists, USA, National Association of Women Artists, Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Society, and many regional societies.
Pember stated, “The abstract patterns and shadows created by light have fascinated me since childhood and are a critical element in the design of my paintings. My paintings are my interpretation of what I see, often exploring an intimate point of view. I often paint in a series as a means of fully exploring a subject. While my paintings are realistic in nature, my intention is to convey my feelings about the subject and a sense of its spirit, rather than to copy a photographically perfect image.”
The Opening Reception for the Adirondack Art Association’s July Art Exhibit will be held Friday, July 1 from 5:00-7:00 pm in Essex, New York. Gallery openings are always free to the public and light refreshments will be served. The exhibit can also be viewed during weekly gallery hours.
