This doodle was submitted to us by Lulu and Jeff at our live performance at The Depot Theatre on July 23, 2013. A collaborative doodle is a fascinating idea. I wonder which parts were drawn by which person?
This doodle shows us the corner of Station Street as it meets Main Street in Essex, NY. The large building in the foreground is the Essex Community Church. In the background we can see the waters of Lake Champlain and Vermont’s Green Mountains.
In the center we can see a few buildings lining Main Street. The Adirondack Art Association sits in it’s correct spot directly across from the end of Station St. Next to the Art Association is the Essex Ice Cream Cafe–I can tell because of the ice cream cones sitting on each side of the building! However, I think a few of the other buildings that were drawn are a bit out of order.
I am not sure what is meant to be next. The ferry dock? Or perhaps it’s supposed to be the road to the Old Dock Restaurant (because that’s where is is in reality)? What do you think?
Then farthest to the left are two more buildings. The Pink Pig should be there, but then a space exists before the next building. But other than that it’s a pretty good rendering from memory of where Main Street buildings are positioned.
Do you think you can do better? Pick an Essex street or a section of one and try to doodle the buildings in their correct positions! We’d love to see what you come up with!
