Today we’re sharing this simple doodle by Charlie Shamel who attended our live performance at The Depot Theatre on July 23, 2013. This fun doodle was sketched in response to the question, “What comes to mind when you think of Essex, NY?”
At first glance I was a little stumped, but a second glance noticed the flag flying atop the doodle, and then I realized that this was a drawing of the Essex-Charlotte ferry with several cars on board. The center is the captain’s tower with the flag, and in front of that are two cars, and behind it is a tractor trailer truck (which wheels look to be hanging off the edge of the boat–but hey, this is a doodle!).
Do you first think of the Essex ferry floating around on Lake Champlain when reminded of Essex? Or is another aspect of the little town something that comes to mind first? We want to know what you think is representative of Essex! Is it a place? An item? A person? Or some indescribable feeling? Whatever it is try to draw it! Then send us your doodle(s) and we’ll share them with the rest of the community here!
