Seeking Handwork Teacher
Lakeside School at Black Kettle Farm is seeking a Handwork teacher for the academic year 2015-16. Ideal candidate knows how to knit, purl, crochet, work with children and is open to Waldorf pedagogy. At Lakeside we feel it’s important for children to experience and understand whole processes. When possible we organize a trip to see sheep shearing, work with unwashed wool, learn to card & spin, and take on a year-long knitting or crochet project. The 1st graders are taught to cast on, knit and cast off. The 2nd graders continue knitting practice and learn to purl. The 3rd graders learn to crochet. Year long projects provide motivation to persevere through challenges and have the pay off at the end of work well done. Handwork class meets twice a week for 45 minutes. Pay is $15 per session. The academic year runs September through mid-June.
To apply send resume and cover letter to Maeve Taylor, Lakeside School Administrator, at admin@lakesideschoolinessex.org or 6 Leaning Rd., Essex, NY 12943.
