Make your plans now to join us on October 17, 2015, for the DACY MEADOW FARM TRAIL OPENING & HARVEST LUNCH. Stewardship Coordinator Bill Amadon will lead the hike on this newly completed trail at 11:30 a.m. After the hike, plan to stay for a HARVEST LUNCH grown and prepared by DaCy Meadow Farm.
The menu includes: Carrot Ginger Soup; Ham, Cheese, and Apple Sandwich, Egg Salad Sandwich, or Curry Chicken Salad Sandwich; Maple Pecan Pumpkin Pie; coffee, tea, hot chocolate or apple cider.
A special thank you to DaCy Meadow Farm for hosting this event and donating all proceeds from the event to CATS to help us raise the required funds to match the grant we received to hire Bill. Click here for more information and to register.
Pond Sprint
Also coming up on October 11, 2015, is the Pond Sprint, a 13-mile race around Long Pond beginning at Pok-O-MacCready Camps, Reber Rd., in Willsboro. (There will also be a 4-1/4 mile “pond hike” for those who want to participate but don’t want to make the 13-mile run.) All proceeds from this event will be divided evenly between the Adirondack Scholarship Foundation and the CATS Long Pond Conservancy Program. Hiking Stories from France
Chris is back from his trip and he brings with him many stories and lessons learned from walking on over 200 miles of trails through the French countryside. He will be sharing some of those stories with you in future emails and special presentations. He’s excited about how CATS can apply lessons from the French trails to enhance hiking experiences on the CATS trails.
“We finished our hike in Cahors after we crossed this historic bridge across the Lot River,” Chris said.
“The trail beckoned us onward with steps leading to the trail up the next ridge and then many more amazing landscapes and scenic towns,” he continued. “But the train station was in Cahors and it was time to get back to our beautiful Champlain Valley and making our own trails. I can hardly wait.”
