When I asked novelist and Essex resident Kate Moses about doing a program at the library, she not only agreed to do a program but generously offered to develop and coordinate a series of events. We are calling the series the Authors Book Club, and it will will consist of monthly readings & discussions of favorite books chosen by local authors.
First in the series will be poet Chase Twichell, who will lead discussion of her most recent book Horses Where the Answers Should Have Been, New & Selected Poems, on Thursday, August 25 at 7:00 p.m. Chase Twichell’s roots in the Adirondacks go back generations. Winner of the prestigious Kingsley Tufts Award and numerous other prizes and commendations, she is the author of seven collections of poetry. She lives in Keene with her husband, novelist Russell Banks.
Upcoming 2016 Authors Book Club participants will be Kate Moses in September, Andrea Barrett in October, and Andy Buchanan in November. Kate is also lining up authors for 2017. More to come on all these events soon! We will add books related to all of these events to our collection; they will also be available for purchase at The Pink Pig in Essex.
We are excited about offering this new series and grateful to Kate for setting it up!
