Every Monday we share an image on the Essex on Lake Champlain Facebook page and invite our viewers to play some Vintage Essex Trivia.
Do you recognize this site? What can you tell us about it and its history? The caption along the top reads, “Crown Point Ruin’s, Lake Champlain, NY” — which tells us the location!
The name you might recognize this place by today is the Crown Point State Historic Site, it is the location of two forts, one built by the French and the other by the British, during the early colonial days when the two nations were at war (ie mid-1700s). Follow the previous link to learn more about the site’s history and for information to visit!
