Every Monday we share an image on the Essex on Lake Champlain Facebook page and invite our viewers to play some Vintage Essex Trivia.
Here is yet another of many postcards depicting this popular site in Essex, NY. Do you recognize it? When do you think it dates to? Do you notice anything that’s changed?
Here’s what the community already had to say:
Douglas Yu: Is it Crown Point? Pre-1912?
Christine Herrmann: Split Rock light house in the early 1900s. There are a lot more trees today!
Melissa Whitty Brand: LighthouseFriends.com – Split Rock, NY
The caption on the postcard read: “Split Rock Lighthouse, Lake Champlain, NY.” The small stamp in bottom right corner marks year as 1907. I can’t make out the words around the date…Can you?
Do you have anything else you’d like to share with us? Anything you noticed about the postcard? Please leave a comment below!
We’ve shared several old postcards and photographs of the Split Rock Lighthouse previously. See them all here: Split Rock Lighthouse Archives.
