Every Monday we share an image on the Essex on Lake Champlain Facebook page and invite our viewers to play some Vintage Essex Trivia.
Do you recognize this ship? It’s the Ticonderoga as the name on its side proclaims! Please share your thoughts with us about this steam ship and what you think of the photo. When do you think this photo was taken?
Here’s what the community already had to say:
Mary Wade: I went on it many times in 49 and 50’s when it came to ESSEX! What fun it was…
Christine Herrmann: Um, I think it might be the “Ti!” Looks like the late 1940s or early 1950s.
It was at some point in the 1950s when the ship ceased to travel Lake Champlain. You can learn more about this ship and see other vintage photos we have shared in the past that feature the Ticonderoga here: Ticonderoga Archives.
