New Website Welcomes New Members
Essex Community Church is one of many places in the tiny hamlet of Essex, NY, where you can see, hear, and feel a sense of tradition and belonging. In fact, for Essex Community Church, “community” is their middle name. Since 1853, the old greystone church has stood at the crossroads of Route 22 and Main Street, welcoming all, according to its Methodist roots, with “open hearts, open minds, open doors.”
But for those who pass by on their way through town, it’s hard to know what goes on inside that church. This year, with its new pastor, Peggy Staats, Essex Community Church decided to make a fresh start on many fronts. These include a series of “maker” workshops and lectures probing current issues and events, adding to the church’s well-established children’s programs, fellowship hour, mission efforts, and community concerts. To make sure people know what’s happening at ECC, the church has launched a new website, https://essexcommunitychurchny.org/. Designed in Essex by graphic artist Gwen Jamison and developed by writer-editor Monica Rumsey, the website reflects the full array of ECC’s activities and outreach.
“It’s nothing new for a church to have a website,” said Pastor Staats, “but we wanted to offer something more dynamic to share the full story behind what this church stands for. We hope this website will help newcomers see our vision of community and sharing – all under the umbrella of faith, hope, and love.”
