We had heard that Essex residents were being advised to trickle their water at night due to the extreme cold temperatures the Champlain Valley has been experiencing. After contacting the Essex Water Superintendent we got an affirmative reply that the advisory is in effect.
Yes, I am advising the residents to still trickle their water. Due to the cold temperatures the water lines are starting to freeze from the deep frost. When the temperature warms up (above freezing) I will let people know that it will be safe to stop running the water. As of now it is all of Essex that should continue to trickle the water. ~Derrick Wrisley, Essex Water Superintendent
So, listen up Essex town residents and make sure to have a faucet drizzle a trickle of water at night. (And those experiencing the same cold should consider this as well.) Better safe than sorry!
