Summer Reading Program
We are putting together our summer reading program and look forward to seeing lots of kids in the library! This year’s theme is Every Hero Has A Story, and books and activities will generally be connected to this theme. We will be looking at all sorts of heroes: animal heroes, environmental heroes, tall tale heroes, community heroes, and more.
The program be held on Thursday afternoons from 2:00 until 2:45 and will run from June 25 until August 20. We also plan to march in the Willsboro-Essex July 4th parade and to hold at least one ice cream social. Parents and guardians, please let us know if you would like to sign up your children for the program. It will be very helpful to our planning to have a better sense of the number and ages of the kids who will be participating!
…and our summer reading will include many new books from a collection of 100 new children’s books that have been donated to us from the Brownstone Book Fund. These books will be available for reading in the library only (so every child has a chance to read from the entire group), and we plan to run a trivia contest about the books at the end of the summer.
…and our Belden Bookworm program will continue through the summer too.
More inforomation will be provided about these programs through our email list, our website (www.essexlibrary.org), and the Essex Community Blog.
