MyChamplainValley (ABC 22/FOX 44) morning reporter Alaina Pinto (myChamplainValley, Facebook, Twitter) stopped by the Adirondack Art Association on Thursday, June 9 to discover firsthand why everyone is so excited about the new art season in Essex.
Alaina Pinto interviewed Katherine Richards Clark and discussed a painting of her granddaughter. Katherine said the depiction of her granddaughter is done in a “classical style” and talked about the process that has taken her about one year of work so far on this particular painting. The painting is not in the gallery as it is still a work in progress, but she has other works on display. Katherine said that her main focus is portraits, but she also enjoys painting landscapes and still-lifes.
Alaina also interviewed Helen Goetz who said she came to art late in life. She started off making jewelry and working with sliver and has since progressed into also working with glass. She works with fused glass, not blown glass. Helen described the typical process she goes through to make a glass piece, which takes about 3 days.
Both artists have work displayed at the Adirondack Art Association. To learn more, visit myChamplainValley’s archive to see the full video interview with Katherine Richards Clark and Helen Goetz (and videos of other interview that day) here: “Art With a View in the Adirondacks.”
Below are some photographs taken by Christina Elliott’s (Director of Adirondack Art Association) of the artists being interviewed.
Here’s the excerpt about the Adirondack Art Association from the MyChamplainValley (ABC 22/FOX 44) archive from the day of interviews:
The Adirondack Art Association is open for the season. More than 60 local artists from surrounding counties showcase their work in the galleries and workshops are offered for all ages.
It’s located right on the water next to the Essex, NY and Charlotte, VT ferry. The nonprofit is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11am to 5pm. Classes for children are free this summer and more can be found on the Facebook and website. (Source: Art With a View in the Adirondacks – Story | myChamplainValley)
