Miss Vermont USA Neely Fortune (@RealMissVTusa), daughter of Essex residents Jan and Jon Fortune, recently competed in the 2016 Miss USA Pageant.
If you missed the beauty buzz about Neely Fortune, here’s a quick introduction:
Neely Fortune, Miss Vermont, is a wildlife biologist, sponsored endurance athlete and outdoor enthusiast. For the past two years she has been running 100 mile ultra marathons in order to advocate for PTSD awareness. She is also an elite obstacle course racer for Reebok Spartan Race and has run nearly 40 races in the last two years, including the Death Race. In addition, Neely has a love of the outdoors and first discovered this passion on a month long backpacking course with the National Outdoor Leadership School. She has since become passionate about preserving the environment as a wildlife biologist and even lived in a tent in Patagonia for 6 months while doing research. Neely embraces her femininity, her athleticism, and her ruggedness. As Miss Vermont, she hopes to inspire young women to be authentic to who they are, embrace what makes them different, and to never let labels define them.
