Lake Champlain is still frozen yet the calendar says spring is here. Warmer weather will arrive soon so please plan to attend our upcoming CATS events.
In April, we have TWO Interpretive Hikes:
April 18 – Coot Hill Bird Walk and Hawk Watch. You’ll love the view from Coot Hill when you join naturalists Malinda and Glen Chapman from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Coot Hill, located south of Port Henry, provides an overlook with fabulous views and sightings of Osprey, Red-Tailed Hawks, Northern Harriers, Kestrels and more! Click HERE for more information and to sign up.
April 25 – Wildflowers of the Champlain Valley. You’ll know spring has finally arrived when you see the magnificent display of wildflowers on this hike along woodland trails and meadow edges led by Outdoor Guide Elizabeth Lee. You have your choice of either the morning or the afternoon session. Click HERE for more information and to sign up.
May 9 – The Grand Inn-to-Inn Hike. Join the walk between Westport and Essex. Start at 11:30 in Westport or for a shorter hike, start at one of the Oases so you’ll get to the Essex Inn about 4:00 p.m. when the Block Party begins. For more info, click HERE.
Help Prepare the Trails
We will be scheduling volunteer trail projects to get the trails ready for the Grand Hike and summer hiking season. Stay tuned for more information. If you would like to become a “Trail Adopter” and help maintain your favorite trail, send us an email (info@champlainareatrails.com) or give us a call (518.962.2287).
