The Champlain Valley Film Series will present the films Tectonics and El Mar La Mar on Sunday, May 20, at 4:00 p.m. at the Whallonsburg Grange Hall for a double feature on the subject of border walls.
Tectonics surveys the physical qualities and the metaphysical quandaries of the US-Mexican border. It follows the boundary and its immediate surrounding topography from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific Ocean.
El Mar La Mar allows the politically contested abstractions of the border and illegal immigration to take place in vivid sensory detail, suggesting new possibilities for the political documentary.
Tickets are $5. Guests are invited to stay afterwards for snacks and conversation.
