One of the first visitors to stop by our Essex on Lake Champlain table on Downtown Essex Day 2013 quickly drew this landscape on the first page of our sketchbook! The initials on the bottom left look like they may be “TH.” To the artist: if you want to claim your doodle leave a comment, and we’ll update this post with your name!
This simple doodle represents one of the most common (and beautiful) sights in the area—the mountains! Perhaps these peaks are the Adirondacks, or maybe they are the Green Mountains of Vermont seen across Lake Champlain (the wavy line at the bottom may be the lake)? Whatever range of mountains this doodler meant to create just the sight of them brings to mind the many majestic vistas we’re blessed with here in the Champlain Valley! And of course the sun is shining brightly in the upper left of the doodle—a nod to the iconic Essex sunburst?
Do you have any favorite Essex landscapes? Or perhaps you’d like to doodle your version of an Essex mountain vista? We’d love to see whatever you come up with! Send us your doodle(s), and we’ll share them on the blog!
