The Lyceum lecture series at the Whallonsburg Grange Hall in Essex, New York presents science educator and author Dr. Curt Stager speaking on “Still Waters: A Deeper Look at Walden Pond” on Sunday, March 31 at 3:00pm.
Dr. Stager will be discussing his most recent book, Still Waters: The Secret World of Lakes, a widely acclaimed examination of lakes from the Adirondacks to Siberia, a narrative about their beauty and the need, more than ever, to protect them. His presentation will focus on iconic Walden Pond and our impact on it.
Curt Stager is an ecologist, paleoclimatologist, and science journalist. He has written extensively for general audiences in periodicals such as National Geographic, The New York Times, Fast Company, and Adirondack Life. Since 1990, he has also co-hosted Natural Selections, a weekly science program on North Country Public Radio that is syndicated internationally, and has toured widely to offer presentations on his research. In 2013, he was named the New York State Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation. Dr. Stager is the offer of four books and many articles.
