Please know that this Saturday, August 1, is Essex Day, with many vendors in town, starting at 10 and going until 4 PM. Among them will be our usual annual event for High Peaks Hospice, hot dogs and beverages for sale, still at only $1.00 each, as far as I know. All proceeds will go to High Peaks Hospice. Anyone who would like to make an additional donation is welcome to do so, and it is sincerely appreciated! We try to keep prices low, to accommodate families with children who may be there for the day. The hot dogs will be sold on the lawn of the Church Parsonage, the interior of which is used by ReNew, our local thrift shop, which also will be open that day…this is located just across the street from the post office! Signs will be up, and Wayne and others will be there to let you know this is for Hospice!
Also on Saturday, starting at 10 AM, the Essex Community Church will sell strawberry shortcake, lemonade and iced tea, which will benefit both the church and our mission fund, now in need of replenishing! The Mission fund helps disadvantaged children in various places, supports two children with special needs, and donates for local special needs as they arise. Shortcake features berries hand picked by our local crew, served over delicious biscuits. We hope you will stop by both places, and you can always take a break and go inside the church fellowship room to relax a while when you eat…or eat outside on the lawn.
Hopefully, there may be blackberries for sale that day as well, if I can get into the field.
It should be an exciting day, with many vendors there, many restaurants and shops open for the day, the art gallery featuring a new exhibit, and many other things happening…including numerous yard sales in town! Stop by Donna Sonnett’s Cupola House porch and check out the sale there, benefiting the Essex Fire and Rescue Department, with items donated by many in town. Come early, stay long!
