The Essex Fire Department (EFD) responded to a total of 81 calls for service during 2018. This includes responses in the Town of Essex, and mutual aid to neighboring towns.

Good Intent – 21
False Alarm – 23
Fire – Structural, wildland, rubbish, vehicle fire suppression.
Weather Related – Trees / power lines down
Marine – Interventional response for Lake Champlain / area waterways
MVA – Motor vehicle accidents requiring an interventional response
Good Intent – Calls for service that may be a true threat of fire, gas or other emergency hazard are actually found to be something else after Firefighters investigate the situation.
False Alarms – causes other than fire or emergency hazard.
The Essex Fire Department contributed a total of 703 volunteer emergency personnel hours in 2018 to the Essex community and neighboring fire districts. This hourly total does not include the hundreds of hours of: drills, meetings, and training.
