Late-breaking news for Saturday’s Celebrate Champlain Area Trails Event! The Essex Inn will be catering and the tradition of great food continues.
The event takes place Saturday, June 6 from 4 – 7 PM at the Barn at Block House Farm in Essex. Here’s the schedule:
8:45-11 am – Hike the Cheney Mountain Trail to see three spectacular views after a short hike up the mountain. Directions are on the CATS map and our website.
4:00 pm – Tony Goodwin, Adirondack Trail Pioneer, author of Adirondack Trail Guides and a founder of the Adirondack Ski Touring Council and the Jackrabbit Trail will be our featured speaker. It was Tony’s inspiring words in 2006 that convinced us we could successfully build trails in the Champlain Valley. Expect to hear of triumphs, challenges, and joy from his experiences making trails, hiking and skiing in all our Adirondack seasons, writing books, and creating new organizations that benefit us all.
4:00 – The children’s hike begins. If you are thinking of coming but worried about whether the little ones will sit still during Tony’s talk, not to worry. Just have your kids join the hike—they will love it.
5:00 – Social time featuring Essex Inn eateries, local beer, tasty wine, other beverages, great views of Lake Champlain, swallows flying over the fields, and people.
5:00 – Book signing by Tony with the proceeds going to CATS; Hike the Lake prints and cards; Champlain Valley Trails poster, and more. This is all in the barn.
7:00 – Time to head home or out for dinner.
Everyone is welcome. Admission is $15 per person, $30 per family with pre-registration. At the door, the cost is $20 per person, $40 per family. You can reserve your space and buy your tickets by clicking here.
See you on National Trails Day!
