Champlain Area Trails (CATS) will formally open the Hemlock Hill Trail in Westport this Sunday, August 27, with a hike starting at 1:00 p.m. The Hemlock Hill Trail is the newest addition to the CATS trail network in the Champlain Valley. The hike is free and open to everyone.
CATS is grateful to Tom Duca, the property owner where the Hemlock Hill Trail is located. It’s through Tom’s generosity in sharing this beautiful property via a conservation easement that the trail available to area hikers.
The Hemlock Hill Trail is located in a beautiful upland forest with rock outcrops and mossy glades. It’s about a 1 mile round trip, and an easy hike. Hikers should meet at the trailhead on Sherman Road, about 3/4 mile north of Lakeshore Road in Westport.
“Hemlock Hill is a great addition to the CATS network of trails,” says Chris Maron, Executive Director at CATS. “The weather should be perfect for this end-of-summer hike and we’re looking forward to showing this beautiful place.”
