Second Saturday Trail Project on April 8
Thanks to Westport Boy Scout Troop 8063 and CATS volunteers, the NEW Triple Green Jade Trail in Willsboro is about half done. Join us on April 8 to hike through the cleared section to the Boquet River and continue clearing the trail. Meet on Mountain View Drive in Willsboro (about 1 mile southwest of the NYCO plant) where you’ll see a yellow “Trail Work” sign. We will work until about 1:00 p.m. Bring work gloves, loppers and/or a hand saw; we’ll have tools too. Call (518-962-2287) or email (info@champlainareatrails.com) if you plan to attend. We can really use your help!
Grand Hike News!
The 2017 Grand Hike is fast approaching. Have you made your plans? If you’ve joined us in the past for this fabulous event, you know how much fun it is. So, make your plans and sign up today. Tell your friends and family and encourage them to come too! Get together a group of friends, create a “theme,” and come as a “team.”
Park in Essex around 11:00 a.m. and ride the shuttle bus to Wadhams where the hike begins. You will hike on CATS Trails and back roads to the Block Party at the Essex Inn where you can “bong the gong” to announce your arrival. Along the route, enjoy meeting other hikers, savoring local treats at the oases, and viewing the magnificent Champlain Valley scenery.
When you arrive at the Essex Inn, relax with some restorative yoga or a massage from the practitioners at Lake Champlain Yoga and Wellness. Children will enjoy the kids’ craft table provided by Erin Hall Studios. Or just sit back, relax, and enjoy the music of the Zip City Blues band. Hungry? The Essex Inn will be serving a buffet dinner for $15 a person (sign up for the dinner in advance). So, be sure to mark your calendars for May 13 and then click hereto register.
