There is still time to sign up for Saturday’s Celebrate Champlain Area Trails Event!
WHERE: At Camp Dudley, on the shores of Lake Champlain south of Westport.
WHEN: Saturday, June 4, 2016
HIKE: This year, you can hike to the Celebrate CATS Event! Yes, as part of National Trails Day, we’re hosting the “Over the Mountain to Lake Champlain Hike” from Mineville to Camp Dudley. To participate, meet at Camp Dudley at 11:00 a.m. and take the shuttle to the beginning of the hike in Mineville. The 10.5-mile walk will take you on Mountain Spring Road, over the mountain to a trail by Stacy Brook that leads to Stevenson Road where you’ll enjoy views of local farmland and Vermont’s Green Mountains. If you arrive early at Camp Dudley, you can enjoy a tour of the Camp or walk around the grounds and look out at Lake Champlain. We will have two oases along the route and shuttles to pick you up if you want to stop early. Here’s a great feature — if it’s a hot day and you’d like to shower after your hike, Camp Dudley has showers available — just bring a towel.
CELEBRATE EVENT: From 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. enjoy hors d’oeuvres, wine, and local beer. This year I will make a PowerPoint presentation illustrating stories and lessons learned from the 207-mile Hamlet-to-Hamlet hike in France that Michelle and I took last September. During my talk, Gregg Van Duesen will lead a children’s hike.
