Join over 400 educators, corporate leaders, and students from across the country for the annual CFES National Conference on October 27-28 and hear from our keynote speakers: Leland Melvin, a former astronaut, Scott Pioli, assistant general manager of the Atlanta Falcons, and Cheryl Wills, award-winning news anchor and author.
Leland Melvin is a retired astronaut and former NFL wide receiver. He has suffered setbacks and obstacles on his way to the International Space Station, but his perseverance paid off. Leland is an advocate for minorities and women in STEM and has inspired millions with his story of adversity and achievement.
Scott Pioli is Assistant General Manager of the Atlanta Falcons. He previously worked for the Kansas City Chiefs and the New England Patriots, helping the Patriots win three Super Bowl championships and has been recognized by ESPN as the Personnel Man of the Decade. Scott serves on Bill Walsh’s Minority Fellowship Council and has advocated for diversity in the NFL throughout his entire career.
Cheryl Wills is an award-winning newscaster and reporter for New York News 1 in New York City. She is the author of several bestselling books about her ancestor, Sandy Wills, who was born into slavery, fought for the Union in the Civil War, and died a free man. These speakers are just part of an exciting two days of workshops, roundtables, and panels designed to build college and career readiness for low-income urban and rural students.
