On Sunday, May 17, the Whallonsburg Grange Hall will present one of the best bands of the Quebec music scene. Known throughout the world for their joyful brand of traditional music, Le Vent du Nord (“the north wind”) has been touring the globe since 2002, presenting a unique sound that moves the heart – and feet – of audiences. The quartet performs with a mix of fiddle, guitar, accordion, bouzouki and hurdy-gurdy. Terrific musicians and fine vocalists, they preserve and share the traditions of francophone Canada and reflect Celtic, Cajun, Acadian and old-world influences.
The group has received national music awards in Canada, France, and the US, including two Juno Awards for best traditional albums and the Grand Prix Musique du Monde in Paris. Le Vent du Nord just released their 8th CD in March 2015.
A special Quebec-style supper (pea soup, salad, bread and dessert) will be available before the show. The meal begins at 5:00 p.m. and costs $7 / $3 under 10. The music begins at 7:00 p.m., and tickets are $17 in advance and $22 at the door, with a special price of $7 for those under 18. All ages are welcome.
The Grange is located at 1610 NYS Route 22 in Whallonsburg, New York, 5 miles south of the Essex ferry dock. For more information visit www.thegrangehall.info or call 518-963-4170.
