      NEW 2019 Winter Weekly Yoga Schedule at LCY&W! – January 3 – May 29, 2019

January 3, 2019 By Lake Champlain Yoga & Wellness Leave a Comment

Lake Champlain Yoga & Wellness is offering a variety of classes to suit everyone this season. Join us for nourishing, restorative, and supportive chair yoga and yin yoga classes. Soothe yourself with candlelight yoga and explore new poses to challenge yourself and grow your yoga practice. Our experienced teachers provide individualized attention and cater to all levels and abilities. Start the new year by aligning and relaxing with Susan, Karin, Michael, Michelle, Lexi, Nora, and Gail!

General description of a LCY&W Yoga class

Each class begins with a centering, to help students release their daily worries and find presence. Attention turns to the breath in order to focus the mind and benefit from the cleansing flow of prana, or energy. Through verbal description and physical demonstration, each teacher then guides students in movements that awaken and warm the body. As class continues, postures become more in-depth and modifications are offered for those who desire them. Emphasis is placed on alignment, safety and stability in each pose. Additionally, teachers offer authentic, heartfelt insights into the deeper understandings of the yogic practice and how it can affect one’s mind, spirit and body simultaneously. Each class ends with a savasana, or deep relaxation, in which each student rests comfortably and finds inner quiet.

      Saturday

Saturday Yoga Mixed-Level Class 10-11:15 am – Michael Fergot, 500 RYT

As we progress from winter to spring, these classes will mindfully acknowledge the changing seasons. Michael will guide students through postures and teachings that encourage a deeper experience of the vital capacity that is perennially rising to the surface. Melt away a little of your unnecessary tension. Expect each class to be subtly different and every class to offer orderly sequences honoring our arising. Every level of practitioner invited; and know that your threshold will be stretched.

      Sunday

      Sunday Yoga Rotation 10-11:15 am

Each Sunday, join one of the studio’s teachers – on rotation – as they guide an all-levels class to awaken the body and nourish the spirit. Breath awareness remains the pulse that invites harmony of body, mind, and heart. Each student flows through revitalizing postures that will create a refreshing sense of vitality and overall well-being. Join us for a beautiful start to your Sunday!

Sunday Yoga – Candlelight 5-6 pm – Lexi Noble DePinto, CYT

Take time for yourself and create space for inner and outer alignment, renewal, and relaxation in Lexi’s candlelight evening yoga classes. To begin, Lexi guides inner reflection, meditation and a chant to center your heart. Mindful breathing exercises will then connect each student to their body, and students will flow into alignment-based asanas that offer focused movement set to soft, soothing music. Finally, a guided savasana will lead to deep relaxation and integrate the benefits of the practice, allowing for the recognition of our true inner nature, which is joy. All levels and ages are welcome.

      Tuesday

Tuesday Chair Yoga 10-11 am (Tuesdays and Thursdays) – Michael Fergot, 500 RYT

Suitable for all, chair yoga practices are especially beneficial for anyone who may be hesitant to practice yoga for any number of reasons, including physical limitations or health concerns. Students take advantage of Iyengar chairs that support some of one’s bodyweight and allow for an increased range of motion. Without having to get up or down from the floor, this reduces joint strain and increases strength and stamina. Furthermore, chairs assist with balance and help to improve flexibility, as well as one’s ability to prevent and recover from falls. By strengthening personal body awareness through breathing and postures that empower each student, chair yoga decreases stress and increases one’s ability to relax and experience more clarity and inner focus.

      Chair Yoga Registration

Please register for the class by emailing info@lakechamplainyogaandwellness by 9 pm the evening before. You will receive an email confirmation that there is a chair for you! Thank you! Chair Yoga Questions – 518.963.4300

Tuesday Yoga 5-6:15 pm Nora Nadire, CAYT

Each class with Nora is an opportunity to go within and connect to the simple peace inside. Beginning with centering and breathwork, students are then guided through gentle asana movements. This progresses to a flow that focuses on proper alignment, engagement, and self-empowerment. Yogic teachings encourage inner reflection and compassion, with the intention of connecting students to their heart. To end, students experience deep stillness in savasana, followed by a chant led by Nora.

      Wednesday

Wednesday Yoga 5:30-6:45 pm – Susan Cerny, CKYT

Susan’s classes are ideal for all levels, as she guides purposeful movement with options for advanced postures as well as modifications. Considered a meditation in motion, the Kripalu style of yoga encourages mindful connection to the breath and the body as one practices postures. Susan’s warmth and experience allows students to move comfortably and safely through classes that balance all systems of the body, leaving you feeling relaxed and restored.

      Thursday

Thursday Chair Yoga 10-11 am (Tuesdays and Thursdays)- Michael Fergot, 500 RYT

Thursday Yin Yoga 5-6:15 pm – Michelle Maron, CKYT/Karin DeMuro, CYT (check the website for the teacher of the week)

For a relaxing and slower-paced class, take advantage of Michelle’s/Karin’s guidance through restorative movement to find deep inner peace. In yin yoga, students use props to explore poses held for longer periods of time, thereby creating more space and initiating deeper stretches. With attention on the breath and ease of motion, yin yoga helps increase blood flow and targets releases in the connective tissue. Class will provide students access to deep stillness and stability, which reduces stress and leaves one feeling nourished and restored. Yin yoga is an ideal class for any level of yoga practitioner.
