The Whallonsburg Grange Hall in Essex, New York, will host one of the North Country’s best-loved bluegrass bands on Saturday, November 18 at 7:30pm. BEARTRACKS has performed at festivals and halls throughout the Northeast and Canada and are an audience favorite wherever they travel. They will be making their first appearance at the Grange.
Beartracks began as a trio in 2004, focused on the sibling vocal harmony of guitarist Tom Venne and bassist Julie Venne-Hogan, along with the legendary Junior Barber on dobro. When Junior retired in 2013, the group expanded to include fiddle and banjo. Today Tom and Julie are joined onstage by Harry Ralph on fiddle and harmony vocals, and Dr. Steve Light playing banjo and dobro. Their sound ranges from traditional bluegrass to country and their own unique style. Beartracks has just released their 6th studio album, The Other Side of the Tracks, a compilation of songs from genres outside of the bluegrass realm done in traditional bluegrass style.
Tickets are $12 at the door, with a special price of $5 for those under 18. All ages are welcome. The show is generously supported by Westelcom. The Whallonsburg Grange Hall is located at 1610 NYS Route 22, five miles south of the Essex ferry dock. For more information, visit www.thegrangehall.info.
