Piano by Nature is thrilled to present Mark Shilansky’s Fugue Mill in two concerts — Saturday, April 9th at 7:00 pm and Sunday, April 10th at 3:00 pm — weaving jazz through the fabric of Americana, world, and classical music, and creating a complex yet attractive blend of musical and improvisational styles. Original group pieces are featured side by side with music by such composers as Leonard Cohen and Samuel Barber. Members of the group combine their wide-ranging experience playing with such artists as Luciana Souza, Esperanza Spalding, and Darol Anger into a musical melange that explores diverse idioms, linked through improvisation and groove.
Members:
- Kathleen Flynn (voice),
- Eric Byers (guitar),
- Sara Caswell (violin – also seen in Nine Horses in the Soundwaves Concert Series),
- Mark Shilansky (pianist – also in the Taylor Haskins Quartet), and
- Special appearance by Westport’s Taylor Haskins (trumpet).
Piano by Nature will present these two shows at the Historic Hand House in Elizabethtown, NY. Tickets are $15 per adult, with $5 tickets for all students 15-and-under. Family rates may be requested for larger groups. Please call 518-962-8899 or 518 578 2081 with any questions and/or visit www.pianobynature.org.
