Start off the new year with a hike, ski or snowshoe on a CATS Trail. This week’s TRAIL OF THE WEEK is the Hidden Quarry Trail on on Rt. 22/9N just 4.5 miles south of Westport or 6.6 miles north of Port Henry. This 0.8 mile easy loop is the perfect trail for the first cross-country ski of the year or a peaceful winter walk or snowshoe. (If the trailhead parking area hasn’t been plowed, park 0.5 miles south in the church parking lot.)
There are four fabulous CATS events coming up this month:
January 8 – Owl Prowl with on the Black Kettle Trail
January 16 – Survival Skills 201 (map and compass reading) on the Beaver Flow Trail
January 16 – Third Saturday of the Month Volunteer Project
January 30 – Group Snowshoe with Tree ID & Animal Tracking on the Beaver Flow Trail
Click here for more information and to register on these and other events.
(We’ll let you know what Trail Steward, Bill Amadon, has planned for this month’s project.)
