Every week we share a different image on the Essex on Lake Champlain Facebook page and invite our viewers to play some Vintage Essex Trivia.
Check out this old postcard! It’s a little yellowed with age, but still a pretty scene! Do you recognize it or have an idea of where it might be? It is captioned: “A Beautiful View Along the Rugged Shores of Lake Champlain.” See anything that might hint as to the actual location?
I cleaned the postcard up a bit and the image below might be a version closer to the original bright colors without the aging.
Here’s what the community has already had to say:
Paula Barbary Shannon: I actually have this vintage postcard and I really think it could be Hatch Point? (Willsboro Point)
Beatrice Disogra: Looks like the Charlotte side near ferry.
Louise Baietto: Hatch Point
Do you agree with any of their assessments as to the location? Or do you think it’s somewhere else entirely?
The backside of the postcard does not give any clues regarding the location, although it does tall us it was published by “McAuliffe Paper Co., Inc, Burlington, Vermont” and was made by “The Dexter Press, Pearl River, NY.”
