Every Monday we share an image on the Essex on Lake Champlain Facebook page and invite our viewers to play some Vintage Essex Trivia. Recognize anything in this scene? What can you point out? Where is this? (Hint: Not Essex. It’s one of our neighbors!)
Here’s what the community already had to say and they recognized it!
Morgan Brooks: Looks like the Westport Marina?
Cathy Barnhart: That’s what I was thinking:)
Dianne Lansing: I think its Westport.
Glenn Estus: Yes, it’s Westport.
Curdie Gardner: I can’t make out the writing on the bottom …is the year on it? Nice pic
Ruthie Nye: Westport
The text on the bottom right reads, “A Glimpse of Westport, Lake Champlain, NY.” The red stamp in the bottom left corner I believe says, “Copyright 1907 By Detroit Publishing Co.” That’s tells us the date!
You can see the back side of the postcard below, although there is not much of interest there. The text along the left side also says that the postcard was made by “Detroit Publishing Co.”
