The Whallonsburg Grange Hall brings Scrooge, the ghosts of Christmas, and all of Charles Dickens’ famous characters to life in a special performance of “A Christmas Carol” on Sunday, December 9. Directed by James Coleman, the radio play features a large cast of local actors, live music, sound effects, and carol singing with audience participation welcome. All proceeds from the afternoon performance will benefit the Families First food pantry that serves over 100 families in Essex County. Suggested donation is $10, free for children. Any and all donations are appreciated.
The festivities begin at 3:00pm with swing dancing and holiday refreshments in the main hall and cookie baking and ornament making in the downstairs community room. The curtain on “A Christmas Carol” goes up at 4:00. The play is family friendly and everyone is welcome. The Whallonsburg Grange has held holiday celebrations here since 1915. Performances of “A Christmas Carol” and the food pantry benefit began as a community tradition in 2009. Business sponsors this year include Champlain National Bank, Ledge Hill Brewing, Mark Hall Design Group, Porcupine Farm, and Reynolds Auto Repair.
The Grange is located at 1610 NYS Route 22 in Essex, New York, five miles south of the Essex ferry dock. For more information, visit www.thegrangehall.info.
