The Whallonsburg Grange Hall Lyceum will present “Game of Thrones’ Historical Landscape: From Vikings and Mongols to Wildlings and Dothraki” on Tuesday, September 25 at 7:30pm. This is the first lecture in the Fall series entitled “Landscapes, Real and Imagined.”
Tonight’s presentation will look at the historical figures and world history that have influenced and shaped the popular book and television series.The show conjures up ancient Rome, Viking and Mongol invaders, and high medieval and Renaissance courts, all as a way of making its narrative feel more ‘real’ to the viewer.
This fun and fascinating talk by UVM professor of Geography Pablo Bose will unravel the drama to look for historical parallels in Game of Thrones.
