On Thursday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m., the Adirondack Center for Writing (ACW) will present an evening of performances by four celebrated writers: Omar Holmon, Roya Marsh, GennaRose Nethercott, and Jon Sands.
Recognized for their exceptional skills, varied backgrounds, and ability to inspire creativity and compassion, these four acclaimed writers are in town to facilitate ACW’s 20th annual High School Writing Retreat. Omar Holmon is a culture critic, performer, and co-founder of the popular website Black Nerd Problems; Roya Marsh is a Bronx, NY native and nationally recognized poet, performer, educator, and activist; Gennarose Nethercott is the author of the novel, Thistlefoot, as well as the short story collection, Fifty Beasts to Break Your Heart; Jon Sands is a winner of the 2018 National Poetry Series, selected for his second book, It’s Not Magic.
“Each year, we make it a point to offer the community an opportunity to engage with these exciting writers during their visit,” said Nathalie Thill, ACW’s executive director. “Roya Marsh and Jon Sands were crowd favorites last year and as a keynote speaker at our writers’ festival in June, GennaRose Nethercott delighted us with her whimsical reading of Thistlefoot. Omar’s poetry is both hilarious and heartfelt; you won’t want to miss the chance to hear from all four of these writers.”
This event is free and open to all ages; anyone interested in attending can learn more and register online at adirondackcenterforwriting.org/writers-on-broadway.
