[Ausable Brewing Company] ABC is a small farm-brewery operation located in Keeseville, NY. Brothers Dan and Dylan Badger are working to provide high quality beer and soda within the Adirondacks. We will be working with local farmers to produce many of our own ingredients as well as dispose of our waste properly. (ABC Facebook)
We are already looking to tap into the agrotourism community along with Mace Chasm Farm and North Country Creamery which are both within a half mile of us, and Fledging Crow is just 3 miles down the road. People travel some to check out farms, but for good food and drink people will plan a whole vacation. I’ve done it myself to Germany and Belgium.
My brother Dan and I are still working to get up and running—we have our federal Brewer’s license but haven’t received our state Farm Brewery license yet, which will allow us to sell pints, tastings and growlers out of our tap room, and bottles/growlers at farmer’s markets.
We are on a piece of property which needs some work, but has a lot of potential for a picturesque beer garden to attract families, all the bicyclists who frequent our road and the beer drinkers vacationing in the area. We’re a half mile from the Ausable Chasm and just 2 miles from the Burlington ferry, so there’s a lot of tourism to tap into during the summer.
Also, just starting up on our road is a small cafe and bakery at the North Country Creamery farm store (the old Clover Mead cafe), so there will be great food right here too. At our brewery we will serve small plates featuring the cheese, cured meats and veggies from our local farmers, plus pretzels with a home made beer mustard.
We are waiting on the state farm brewery license at this point while we wrap up construction on the 100 year old timber framed barn that has become our brewery, and so we will probably have our grand opening in August. We will soon be serving a wide range of beers as well as ginger soda and root beer which we produce. Until then, we have soda available right now at the Keene Valley market on Sundays.
Oh yeah, and we are looking to offer a Beer-of-the-Week or CSB option for locals who want to get a growler or two a week of whatever we brew up at a discounted price.
