Champlain Area Trails heard from a number of people who wanted to participate in this Sunday’s dedication of the bench for Bruce Klink but are not inclined to hike to the summit of the Wildway Overlook Trail. So CATS will now hold the dedication at the trailhead at 1:30 p.m. on August 2 and then make the ¾ mile hike to the top for views of the Split Rock Wildway portion of our beautiful Champlain Valley.
The bench honors Bruce, one of CATS founding members and an integral part of the Essex community. Bruce’s vision and actions helped create the miles of trails people enjoy throughout the year. The hike and celebration are open to the public.
The directions to the Wildway Overlook Trailhead from Essex: Go 2.5 miles west on Route 22. When it turns south, go straight, over the Boquet River and bear right onto Jersey street. (County Route 12). Go 2.5 miles on Jersey street to a “T”. Turn left onto Brookfield Road. The well-marked trailhead is 0.7 miles on the left.
