The Pleasant Valley Chorale is ready to welcome winter with music! This year’s program, Winter Songs, brings together beautiful choral pieces that honor the many moods of the season, along with a few favorite holiday tunes to warm hearts and lift spirits. Under the direction of Nora Nadire and accompanied by longtime accompanist Kerry Mero, the Chorale’s rich harmonies and joyful energy promise a memorable start to the holidays.
With over 30 members, the Pleasant Valley Chorale is a lively, welcoming community ensemble sponsored by the Elizabethtown Social Center since 1987. The group has a long tradition of performing two seasonal programs each year, featuring everything from Broadway classics to tributes to iconic American composers. “We appreciate that the Chorale is available to anyone who wants to sing,” says Social Center Director Laurie House. “It’s part of our core mission to bring people together.”
Director Nora Nadire adds, “I am thrilled to continue leading the Chorale this season. Last spring was a wonderful transition from singer to director, and I loved bringing together both veteran and new voices. I believe singing should be joyful and easeful, and I aim to bring that spirit into every rehearsal.”
Accompanist Kerry Mero, a respected music educator of 31 years and NYSSMA award recipient, shares: “I love that the Chorale gives people of all ages the chance to be part of a performing group and share their love of music with the community.”
