No, just kidding. A “doodle bomb” isn’t a cross between a goofy drawing and a lethal missile. Nor is it scary. Usually it’s funny. Sometimes even beautiful…
What is a Doodlebomb?
Perhaps you’re familiar with photo bombing? Or video bombing? A doodlebomb shares the same conceptual DNA but applied to doodling instead of shooting photos or video. Here’s one explanation:
Your challenge is to hijack a magazine ad and doodle it up with your crafty skills. Do it old school: use paint, a pen, marker, sharpie, whatever, but no computer help. (Doodlebomb!)
This is a little restrictive for our tastes. There’s no sense limiting ourselves to advertisements. Instead, any Essex image or photo that you have permission to use (or created yourself) is fair game. And why limit yourself to “old school” doodles when digital cameras abound?
Basically a doodlebomb is derivative graphic created by doodling over an existing image. So you could take a photograph of an Essex landmark and then doodle it up to your heart’s contenct!
Submit Your Essex Doodlebomb
What fun is doodlebombing unless you show people what you’ve created, right? So we want you to doodlebomb Essex and then send your creation to us to showcase on the blog. Simply photograph or scan your doodlebomb and send it our way. We’ll take it from there. And please include your credit name as you would like it to appear in accompanying post. And if you’ve got a story to accompany the Essex doodlebomb, all the better. Send us that too. And your website, business information or anything else that you’d like us to include. Good luck!
