Next to Normal
Music by TOM KITT
Book & Lyrics by BRIAN YORKEY
The Story
Dad’s an architect; Mom rushes to pack lunches and pour cereal; their daughter and son are bright, wise-cracking teens, appearing to be a typical American family. And yet their lives are anything but normal. Because the mother has been battling manic depression for 16 years. Next to Normal takes audiences into the minds and hearts of each character, presenting their family’s story with love and sympathy. This deeply moving piece of theatre is an emotional powerhouse that addresses such issues as grieving a loss, ethics in modern psychiatry, and suburban life.

I Hate Hamlet
By PAUL RUDNICK
The Story
Andrew Rally seems to have it all: celebrity and acclaim from his starring role in a hit television series; a rich, beautiful girlfriends; a glamorous, devoted agent; the perfect New York apartment; and the chance to play Hamlet in Central Park. There are, however, a couple of glitches in paradise. When Andrew’s agent visits him, she reminisces about her brief romance with John Barrymore many years ago, in Andrew’s apartment. This prompts a séance to summon his ghost. From the moment Barrymore returns, Andrew’s life is no longer his own. The laughs are nonstop as Andrew wrestles with his conscience, Barrymore, his sword, and the fact that he fails as Hamlet.
“…unapologetically silly and at times hilarious…
affectionately amusing about the theatre…”
