Recently, I’ve given several PowerPoint presentations about Champlain Area Trails that describe the biological richness of Champlain Valley’s natural communities and how we created CATS so people could get outside and enjoy our wonderful landscape. After my talk at the Paine Memorial Library in Willsboro, Patty Paine suggested that I let you and others know that we are happy to give presentations to your organization, school, church, or gatherings of friends.

Upcoming Events

Here are some upcoming activities you may be interested in:

Thursday, August 7th, 9:00 am. – Our summer intern Charlotte will be leaving us shortly to return to school. Please join her this week for Thursday on the Trail with Charlotte as we cut grass and do general maintenance while hiking the scenic Bobcat Trail. We will meet at Dogwood Bread Company at 9:00 AM and should be done by noon.

Tuesday, August 26th and Sunday, September 14th – Our next two Mushroom Foraging Workshops should be “fungiful” which is the scientific term for lots of mushroom. I noticed yesterday that the Homestead Trail was fungiful so with this recent rain you’ll see many varieties of our fungi-friends. Thursday, August 28th – The Soundwaves Concerts in Ballard Park every Thursday have been fabulous. This evening’s concert highlights Champlain Area Trails and features the wonderful music of Rebecca Martin and Larry Grenadier. We look forward to seeing you.

About Champlain Area Trails (CATS)

Champlain Area Trails (CATS) is a non-profit organization, begun in 2009, which creates and maintains hiking and cross-country ski trails in the Champlain Valley that link communities, connect people with nature, and promote economic vitality. In its short history, CATS has developed 35 miles of trails that when added to existing trails, gets it half-way toward the long-envisioned goal of a 30-mile trail loop between Westport and Essex. CATS will extend its trails to neighboring towns and eventually connect them to trails in the Adirondack Mountains, Vermont, and Quebec. Learn more on the CATS website.
