Why I Give to Lakeside School

I am so pleased to see how our local communities have changed since my family moved here in 2001. There were no CSA’s, few hiking trails, and nothing that could be compared to Lakeside School at Black Kettle Farm. We had few options of where to send our two-year old to pre-school.

Now, 13 years later, I have seen a tremendous increase in awareness of the benefits of local food, trails and the early childhood education needs of our children. This has changed our community and led to the creation of over eight CSA’s, Champlain Area Trails and, of course, Lakeside School—which creatively and effectively is meeting our children’s critical educational needs!

We are very fortunate to have Lakeside School, begun by a dedicated group of parents who wanted to make the most of their children’s inherent curiosity and passion for learning. They formed Lakeside School, steeped in the Waldorf teaching philosophy, and located it at Black Kettle Farm where it could be a farm-based school set amidst diverse forests, fields, and wetlands where students and parents can share in the joy of learning what nature has to offer throughout the year.

Give to Lakeside School

Lakeside School has grown in the last eight years from a class of 8 students to over 40 today! We have seen young families, followed by many grandparents, move to the Champlain Valley specifically for the school. People are buying houses, raising children, eating farm food and creating a new kind of healthy community.

So here we are. And this is where you come in. Lakeside School is a non-profit educational organization which strives to grow and expand its programs. We ask you to please make a donation to Lakeside School. You will be investing in our community, in the children, and in the continuing commitment to keep moving forward. Your contribution will go directly to the school’s operating budget which funds the educational programs, the nourishing snacks and lunches, seeds for the garden, art supplies and faculty.

With your help, we can continue to provide an outstanding education to young children while contributing to the sustainability of our community.
