Each Monday we share an Essex photo or artifact on the Essex on Lake Champlain Facebook page and invite our viewers to play some Vintage Essex Trivia. Last week we shared the photo above featuring one of the Town of Essex Fire Trucks and several fireman. Do you recognize any of the men? When do you think the photo was taken? Do you know if the Town still has this fire truck?
Here’s what the community had to say so far:
Patricia Gardner: That’s Charlie Goff checking the gages.
Patricia Gardner: Was it when the train caught the dry grass on fire along the middle road?
Norma Goff: Definitely was Charlie standing next to the truck, and Jim on top.
Dianne Lansing: Looks like it might be Jim Morgan on the top of the truck.
We’ve confirmed that it is Jim Morgan atop the truck and Charlie Goff right next to it. Can you identify any of the other three men? Their faces are not clear, but perhaps you remember who may have been working with the Essex Fire Department around this time and have a guess?
Leave a comment below with your guess. Also feel free to share your stories involving the Essex Fire Department!
