“Sprouts”
The Lakeside School, located at Black Kettle Farm in Essex, NY, is offering a new day-care option for young children in the North Country – the “Sprouts” program.
This full day care program for 1 & 2 year olds will launch in September 2013 and is built around a predictable and steady rhythm in a warm and supportive home-like environment. The unique setting allows children to experience farm life while feeding the farm animals, working in the gardens, and exploring the forest, fields, and streams. The children will spend lots of time outdoors in all seasons and have the opportunity to assist in the preparation of whole-food snacks and meals, all made on-site. The slow-paced rhythm of the day allows for plenty of rest time for the children, as well as interaction with the older Lakeside students.
Sprouts children and their families are also invited to participate in school and community festivals – Harvest Fest and Lantern Walk in the fall, Winter Spiral and Valentine’s Day in the winter, and Maple Sugaring and May Day in the spring. 2-day, 3-day, and 5-day options are available.
Space is limited, so please register early.
The Lakeside School also offers a mixed-age Kindergarten for children ages 3-6 and an elementary school program for 1st and 2nd graders. Optional extended day care is available for all Lakeside School children until 5:00pm.
