We recently asked if anyone was interested in organizing some clean up efforts around Essex next week in honor of Earth Day and the potential cleanup sites have been pouring in! Thank you everyone for your energy and ideas, can you imagine what next year could be like with a little more time and planning??!!
We have multiple days and locations for you to get your Earth Day on.
Plan to bring gloves, any instrument to pickup trash, and trash bags if you have a few extra! Words of advice from the pro’s: have one bag ready for trash, another for bottles/cans for return. (We will try to provide bags for each location and working with highway department on coordinating trash pickup.)
Date/Times; Locations; Organizers
Monday morning (4/20)- School St. Plan to meet at/around the water tower at 10:00 am. (Organizer: Gretel Schueller)
Monday afternoon (4/20)- Town Beach. Plan to meet at 5:00 pm. (Organizer: Tom Stransky)
Wednesday morning (4/22) – Leaning Rd/Cook Rd. Plan to meet at 9:00 am. (Organizers: Lakeside School and CATS/Kathleen Morse and Chris Maron).
Looking for cleanup crew for the following roadways:
- Route 22, from Fire Department to Boquet River
- Whallons Bay Rd from Lake to Whallonsburgh
Email essexinitiatives@gmail.com if you can be the organizer for these projects.
A few of our previously suggested roads have already had a recent cleanup effort by our amazing residents:
- Lakeshore Rd. is done. Thank you Kevin and Maureen DeLaughter!
- Blockhouse Rd. is done. Thank you Todd and Alexander Goff!
It would be great if you can get out during the week for five minutes to pick up a few cans or bits of trash. Thank you to everyone!
