Anyone notice something new near Essex Town Hall and near the entrance to Begg’s Park?
If you own and walk a dog near those areas…I’ll bet you did!
“Essex Initiatives” recently purchased and installed two dog waste receptacles on the posts that carry the dog waste bag dispensers. There is one on the north side of Town Hall and one on the upper level at Begg’s Park. The bag dispenser on the lower level at Beggs has no receptacle — yet.
“Essex Initiatives” is working to help make Essex more resident and visitor friendly and to stay litter-free. We all agree it’s a beautiful little town and deserves to have these basic additions to help it stay beautiful.
“Essex Initiatives” is hoping to get some help to purchase another dog waste can as well as 2 very attractive outdoor metal waste receptacles for the Main Street business area. We need about $1000 to purchase those 3 items.
We have a few volunteers who will regularly pick-up the trash bags and take them to the Essex dump. (EI will provide the punch card.) We are looking for more volunteers too!
If you want to help with this project get in touch with “Essex Initiatives” at PO Box 38, Essex, NY 12936. E-mail: essexinitiatives@gmail.com. Or come to our next meeting!
