As the winter months settle in, we are still here at Belden Noble Memorial Library offering numerous printed materials, technological services, and interesting programs to residents and visitors alike. Whether you are settled in here for the winter or you are on your time away, we continue to reach out to you through our newsletter and emails. We keep you connected year round.
Maintaining the Library and Programs
Our library director, Tom Mangano, our library assistant, Julie Steeves, and numerous loyal volunteers continue to work hard to bring you current materials and interesting programs, and to provide a welcoming atmosphere. We continue to follow through with our long-term plan to bring you the best materials and services for children and adults, keep the library growing, and maintain our historic gem. When you visit, you can see the work accomplished on the façade of the library project (FLIP) and our new concrete walkway, which offers increased ease of access. As we move forward to complete phase II of FLIP, we are already in the planning stages for the next phase.
Essex Library Funds
This fall the town again budgeted $10,000 dollars to the library for this coming year. We have continued to raise money through grants, such as the two from the Honeybee Foundation and the Essex Community Fund, book sales, bake sales, programs, and your donations. These efforts, as well as countless hours of our volunteers’ time, have kept our library open and vital. We appreciate your time; we appreciate you baking for the bake sales, covering the desk, your talent and expertise for library programs, and your ideas. We also appreciate your donations that help us sustain and grow our library.
Let us know about your interests and how you might like to help. We thank you in advance for your support and ask that if you are considering year’s end giving that you consider us.
Sincerely,
Sandra Vance, President
