The Huffington Post recently published the article, “CFES Conference Aims to Share Best Practices for Guiding Low-Income Students Toward College” highlighting the upcoming 18th annual College For Every Student (CFES) National Conference taking place in Burlington, VT on November 7-8.
CFES works with 200 rural and urban schools and districts in 27 states and in Ireland, supporting 20,000 students with their three successful core programs: “mentoring” (pairing students with experienced/successful mentors), “leadership through service” (encouraging leadership and community service), and “pathways to college” (allowing students to visit colleges and explore the admission process and related activities).
This CFES national conference will bring together 500 educators, corporate leaders, and students from across the country to share and explore the best practices and strategies for guiding low-income students toward college and career success.
The conference will also feature remarks by New York Times columnist and renowned author and political pundit David Brooks just a few days after this year’s Congressional and gubernatorial elections, insight from Director Andrew Rossi on his film, Ivory Tower, that asks, “Is College worth the cost?”, and comments from Judge Glenda Hatchett on the importance of lifting up the nation’s underserved population.
