Joel A. Martin returns to the Adirondacks with his groundbreaking new project: Jazzical Komitas – Passion of Fire. This powerful concert experience reimagines the haunting beauty of Armenian folk music through the bold, expressive language of jazz.
If you’ve experienced Joel A. Martin in concert, you know the profound impact of his extraordinary talent and deep humanity. He creates an immediate connection with his audience—giving them a sense that they are witnessing something truly remarkable. It’s this very thread of musical brilliance that continues to bind PBN to him, making his visits to our region especially cherished occasions.
Joel first appeared on the PBN stage in 2013, delivering a captivating solo Jazzical® performance that left audiences spellbound. As part of his inaugural PBN performances, Joel was able to offer several dynamic outreach programs for students in several of our local schools. Because of the impact he made during his school visits, he was invited to lead the Zone 6 Area All-State Jazz Ensemble, leaving students inspired and motivated to reach for the stars!
Every time Joel visits, great things happen—musically, personally, and communally. We are deeply grateful for the light and talent he brings, and for the special place he holds in our hearts. For this set of concerts, Joel will be introducing the PBN audience to his long-time collaborative partner, bassist David Dunaway, who has clearly been a part of some very exciting threads and connections of his own.
Piano by Nature is excited to present Joel’s groundbreaking new project, Jazzical Komitas – Passion of Fire, which blends classical mastery and soulful improvisation with the ancient melodies of Armenian composer Komitas into a vibrant, 21st-century light. We warmly invite you to join the artists afterwards for tasty refreshments and scintillating post-concert conversation.
