Summer in Essex. Beauty. Bliss. Blur!
There’s no question that experiencing summer in Essex is like stepping into a movie. Bucolic vistas. Farm fresh foods. The sounds and smells of rural, lakeside living. A symphony of wind strummed sailboat halyards and seagulls and laughter. Concerts and theatre and the tempting aroma of barbecue grilled dinners. Paddling Lake Champlain and pedaling the valleys and foothills. Dramatic, painterly sunsets in the Adirondack Mountains and alpenglow on Vermont’s Green Mountains…
So many magical memories being made every hour, every day, and yet the summer days go blurring past. The August glass is still half full, but June and July have already been toasted and tossed down the hatch like cheery summer cocktails. In an effort to slow the clock slightly I’ve gathered a few random but wonderful glimpses of summer in Essex from the ever-blurring-never-sleeping social media platforms that so many use to document their favorite moments.

Ano Lobb informed me that this GoPro shot was taken while paddling about a quarter mile north of Split Rock. What a shot!

Tory-Ann Torres’ triptych offers up a micro-documentary of a recent Essex visit, three unique images that capture a familiar Essex narrative.

Suvir Saran’s northward glimpse actually takes us back to springtime, but it is such a familiar glimpse upon entering Essex via ferry that I couldn’t resist including it here. For a more recent photograph of approximately the same spot (albeit from a totally different angle) I’ll wrap up with Mrs. Lynch’s too-perfect-to-be-real photo looking northeast along the same sandy shoreline.
Don’t forget to share your snapshots of summer in Essex. I’ve failed to include so many majestic images from this summer, but I would be thrilled to add a follow-up gallery to include them. What have you got?
